Updated: Jul 21, 2023

As part of Beyond Plastic Med's activity, InOff Plastic is supporting the InterContinental Marseille - Hotel Dieu to replace 18 of its single-use plastic products and packaging (e.g. water bottles, amenities, sugar, tea and hot chocolate sachets) with alternatives that are viable from an economic and environmental perspective.

For each of the 18 plastic products and packaging, we have identified at least 5 alternatives allowing the hotel to:

  • delete,

  • reduce,

  • or replace the packaging or product.

We have identified and discussed with more than 170 suppliers or partners, preferably local, in order to select the most relevant regarding the specifications of the InterContinental Marseille - Hotel Dieu, its uses and the standards of the IHG group.

Here are examples of alternatives that have been selected by the hotel to replace the single-use plastic candy bag and plastic toys offered to children during the check-in:

InOff Plastic supported the launch of a three-month experimentation phase in June 2022 within the Intercontinental Marseille - Hotel Dieu in order to collect feedback from consumers and staff. A preliminary analysis highlighted that the alternatives chosen have a positive environmental impact compared to the original product. In one of our following newsletters we will share the economic outcomes of the experimentation phase. Bénédicte TRABUC-LETONDAL, Marketing & Communication Manager of the InterContinental Marseille - Hotel Dieu: « InOff Plastic has been a real accelerator in this experimentation, both through the benchmark of alternatives and with the deployment phase. With this program, we are re-adapting our purchasing protocols, we are training our teams to adopt new protocols and we are asking our customers to adopt new practices. InOff Plastic's expertise and meticulous support was essential in each of those stages. » Florent KOHLER Area Key Account Director of the Intercontinental Marseille, Bordeaux and Lyon: « Consumers appreciate seeing that in the hotel, they are in the continuity of the ecological practices that they try to respect at home. When it comes to business clients, it is increasingly important for them to work with partners who demonstrate their commitment in concrete projects. » Book an appointment with us if you also want to replace some of your single-use plastic packaging or products with more sustainable alternatives!
